The FSC

The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is an international network existing to promote responsible management of the world’s forests. The FSC label identifies products which contain wood from well-managed forests certified in accordance with the rules of the FSC, which ensure that people, wildlife and the environment benefit from the forestry practices. FSC certification is globally recognized as being the most credible and strongest system for ensuring well-managed forests.

Processed Chlorine Free

The purpose of chlorine in the papermaking process is to brighten pulp, resulting in brighter whiter paper. But using chlorine releases cancer-causing dioxins into the environment, polluting water supplies. Today better and cleaner technologies exist, which bring the same or better results without adding chlorine to our watersheds.

Why recycled paper?

Using recycled paper saves energy, reduces water pollution, reduces landfill usage and reduces the number of trees harvested to make paper. Recycled paper helps to fully utilize the fiber resources provided by trees by using them to the end of their life cycles and by reducing waste.

Things you should know about recycled paper

  • Typically, every ton of recycled paper saves 3.3 cubic yards of landfill space.
  • In 2006, 53.4 % of the paper consumed in the U.S. was recovered for recycling. This is equal to 53.5 million tons of paper.
  • Paper fiber can be recycled 3 to 4 times — so using recycled paper ensures we use the fiber harvested from trees through to the end of their life cycle.
  • It is estimated that manufacturing recycled paper uses 40% less energy and 60% less water than virgin fiber paper.
